Review: Ice Sports Water Bottle

Hey

Before I started my job a couple of weeks ago I did a spot of shopping for some essentials for work and along with the Robinson's Squash'D I pick up I picked up this nifty bottle.

We will jump straight in with the review. It's a purple clear plastic bottle that has a compartment where you can pop it in the freezer and have cold drinks on the go.

As you may see from the picture you fill the dark purple compartment which is removable with water, pop it in the freezer over night and when you leave the following day you twist it back into the lid, place into your drink and you're set for a few hours.

I've had this for just over two weeks and I haven't had any problems with it. It's surprisingly sturdy, it doesn't leak and as it's plastic there's no danger of it smashing. They come in a range of colours and you can find these in Poundland for, yup you've guessed it £1.00. For that price you can have one in every colour. If you're in the market for a new water bottle then perhaps check out Poundland.

Review: Robinson's Squash'D

Hey

Long time no see. I've been MIA with reviews lately but I'm finally back and have a ton of posts to catch up with so let's get started.

Since I started my new job I needed a solution to my not liking water but not wanting to take a huge bottle of squash to work problem and when I saw the advert for this product I knew my prayers had been answered.

Robinsons have come up with the idea of having squash in a smaller container that can fit in bags for on the go. First off I wasn't sure how great these would be and if they would be as good as a bottle of squash and let me tell you there is no difference.

As you can see from the picture above, you open the cap at the top and you turn it upside down and squeeze a few drops into your water they can make up to 20 drinks depending on how strong you like your drink. These are really sturdy containers, there's no danger of them leaking unless you leave the cap open and lean on it. The thing I love about this product is that they are really handy to just throw in your bag especially if you have fussy children that don't like water or are just generally fussy yourself

They currently come in 3 different flavours. Summerfruits which is the one above, Orange & Peach (which is my favourite) and Apple & Blackcurrant (which I haven't tried as can't stand Blackcurrant). These are priced at £2.00 and you can find them in your local supermarket. I couldn't recommend them enough. I always have a couple in my draw at work for when I need drink.!

L'oreal Elnett Satin Hair Spray Review

Hey

For my birthday I got a curling wand and as my current hair spray was pretty old I wanted to get a fresh one to keep my curls in place and it gave me an excuse to buy a new one.

I've seen many YouTubers use this hair spray in a number of tutorials and figured it would be a good one to try out. The bottle is pretty fancy I love the design it gives the appearance that it costs more than what it does.

There is many different strengths and sizes but I felt supreme hold would be best for me and I got it in 75ml incase I didn't like it.

Unfortunatley for me this product didn't do a very good job at keeping the curls in my hair, they dropped out within half hour even though I sprayed the crap out of my hair. It may have been my hair that is the problem I'm not sure. Even though it didn't work for me I did enjoy the product, it didn't leave my hair crispy like some sprays do and the scent wasn't half bad either.

Even though this product was a fail. I would recommend it because it may work for you.

Birthday Haul 2014

Hey

I apologise for the lack of posts recently I've got a lot going on and it's extremely stressful and has left me with not much time to do posts but hopefully that will change soon.

So recently it was my birthday and I was lucky enough to receive some birthday money and thought I would share with you what I brought.

Let's start with make-up

First thing I got was bronzer. I'm naturally quite pale and wanted to warm up my complexion a bit so I opted for a bonzer by MUA (Makeup academy) in the Shade 1 which is the lightest shade they have.

Next up I wanted to get a new eyeliner in a different shade then black and as I have blue eyes I heard browns are good for making your eyes POP! Mine is from the brand Collection and it is there Intense Colour range and I got the shade Soft Brown.

My mascara is running low so I picked up a new one also from Collection and it is their Killer Curves one and I got it on the shade Black.

As I mentioned I got a bonzer I figured I should pick up a bronzing brush so I went for Superdrugs own brand nothing special but it does the job.

For my birthday I got a curling wand (review coming soon) I needed to pick up some hair essentials and first up I brought some hairspray. I heard a lot about Elnett and got the small size just to try it out.

And last but not least I brought a hair serum to tame those pesky flyaways and frizz and to also give my hair a glossy look to it. I opted for got2b by Schwarzkopf.

I hope you enjoyed this post and hopefully you can bear with me while I try and get back on schedule.

The Husbands Secret - Liane Moriraty Review

The Husbands Secret
Published: 2013

Description:
My Darling Cecilia
If you're reading this, then I've dead...

Imagine your husband wrote, to be opened after his death. Imagine, too, that the letter contains his deepest, darkest secret - something so terrible it would destroy not just the life you built together, but the lives of others too. Imagine, then, that you stumble across that letter while your husband is still very much alive.

Cecilia Fitzpatrick achieved it all - she's an incredibly successful business woman, a pillar of her small community and a devoted wife and mother. Her life is as orderly and spotless as her home. But that letter is about to change everything, and not just for her; Rachel and Tess barely know Cecilia - or each other - but they too are about to feel the earth-shattering repercussions of her husband's devastating secret.

Review
I actually picked this book up from my local library so was unsure what to expect as well as not having read anything by this author before, but I'm glad i checked it out.

I loved this book. It was engaging from the very beginning. The story itself jumps from different characters 3 people tell their story leading up the the big revelation. The story is easy to follow there is no getting lost or confused as to what is going on. You had no idea what the secret was or who the killer was. i liked how all three people was connected in different ways and they don't know it. What I thought was a good touch which doesn't happen often is how Janie (who was murdered) tells us what happened including the events that lead up to her death. I truly was unable to put the book down. I started out wondering how they were all going to be connected as I couldn't for the life of me figure it out but the author managed to reveal it without it being rubbish and rushed.

Crossed - Ally Condie Review

Crossed (Matched #2)
Published: 2011
367 Pages

Other reviews in this series : Matched #1

Description:
The Society chooses everything.

The books you read.
The music you listen to.
The person you love.

Yet for Cassia the rules have changed. Ky has been taken and she will sacrifice everything to find him.

And when Cassia discovers Ky has escaped to the wild frontiers beyond the Society there is hope.

But on the edge of society nothing is as it seems...

A rebellion is rising.

And a tangled web of lies and double-crosses could destroy everything.

Review
I liked this book a lot better than the first book matched. There was more going on with this story what with Cassia and Ky both escaping and trying to find their way back to each other.

New characters were introduced with Cassia, you had Indie and with Ky you had Vick & Eli. It was interesting to find out about their different stories and what they knew if anything about the uprising.

It was exciting not knowing what was going to happen to them wether they would survive or get captured and dragged back to camp.

I liked the ending and it does leave you wondering what will happen and I look forward to reading the next one.

Dead Silence - Kimberly Derting Review

Dead Silence (The Body Finder, #4)
Published: 2013
Pages: 389

Reviews in this series: The Last Echo #3

Description: Violet thought she'd made peace with her unique ability to sense the echoes of the dead and the imprints that cling to their killers.... that is until she acquired an imprint of her own. Forced to carry a reminder of the horrible events of her kidnapping, Violet is more determined than ever to lead a normal life. However, the people who run the special investigative team Violet works for have no intention of letting her go.

When someone close to Violet becomes a suspect in a horrific murder, she finds herself pulled into a deadly hunt for a madman with an army of devoted followers. Violet has survived dangerous situations before, but she quickly discovers that protecting those closest to her is far more difficult than protecting herself.

Review:
The author gives you a snippet of what happens at the end of the book which you don't know at first which totally sucks you in.

There isn't much to say about this book because once again Violer is having to catch a killer after she stumbles across some bodies, but this time her friends are there to help her.

If I remember rightly Violets Granmother is really mentioned all that much other then to let you know Violet inherited her gifts from her Granmother. So I liked getting to read parts of her Granmothers diary and what it was like for her to have the same ability that Violet does.

You also learn more about the centre also know as the circle of seven as it's been kept pretty hush hush so far. I'm not going to give to much away but you are left wondering who's behind the centre and what their real goal is.

I was unable to put it down and hopefully the author is writing another book in this series.

The Lies You Told Me - Jessica Ruston Review

The Lies You Told Me
Published: 2013
Pages: 368

Description: 'I do not know what you have been told about your mother. But I know it cannot be the truth...' Klara Mortimer never really knew her mother, Sadie, a former model, who left when she was just six years old. All she has is a handful of stories, passed down from the father who raised her. Klara tells herself she has long ago come to terms with her mothers disappearance from her life, but then she receives a note and key from someone who calls themselves 'N.R'. These lead her to a garage, full of the remnants of her mothers past, and to the diary she kept all those years ago. Within its pages, Klara discovers a woman who doesn't quite match the portrait her father has painstakingly painted for her, and a story that leads her to question everything she thought she knew..

Review:
This was another book I picked up from my library and the back cover sounded pretty intriguing so I decided to give it a go as I have also never read anything by this author.

From the very beginning, your drawn in by wanting to kno what happened to Klara's mother which takes about 8 chapters before you start to learn anything. But those chapters set the story so it's not dull or anything.

As the story unfolds you are transported into Sadie's world as Klara's reads from her mothers diary. Klara doesn't know why she was given the key or by whom but it leads her to finding her mothers diary and she had no idea that her father was keeping secrets from her.

As you get further into the book, you start to learn about Sadie and her unhealthy obsession with Archie. The lengths she went to in order to keep him was shocking. Eventually Klara starts to out the pieces together and begins to unravel the lies that her father has told her throughout her life.

Throughout the whole book I really had no idea what the outcome was going to be or what really happened to her mother. Sometimes you think you may know what happens but by the end of the book when you finally discover what happened, you realise you had no clue as to what the big secret was.

A brilliant but sad ending. I honestly didn't see that coming. Even though Klara finally found out the truth, there is still something else that Coco and Henry are keeping from her. Just when you think all the lies are I out in the open BAM! There is another one Klara doesn't know about.

I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by Jessica Rushton in the future.

City Of Lost Souls - Cassandra Clare Review

City Of Lost Souls (Mortal Instruments #5)
Published: 2012
Pages: 535

Description: When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to discover that the demon Lilth's magic has bound her beloved Jace together with her evil brother Sebastian, and that Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. As Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabellr wheedle and bargain wit Seelies, demons, and the merciless Iron Sisters to try to save Jace, Clary plays a dangerous game of her own. The price of losing is not just her own life, but Jace's soul. She's willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost?

Review: After the last book I become a bit bored with the story it is starting to drag on a bit like most series do. But I decided to start this book anyway and figured I would just force myself to read it just to find out what happens to Jace. I'm glad I gave it a go because about half way through I actually started to enjoy reading it. It did begin slow with not much going on as they were trying to come up with a plan to save Jace from Sebastian but towards he end I found myself rushing to finish it.

Rating: 4/5
Would I Recommend?: yes even though it's not the best book in the series.

Vaseline: My Top 5 Uses!

Hey

By now I'm sure everyone has heard of Vaseline, but did you know you can use it for more than chapped lips? Today I bring you my top 5 uses for using Vaseline.

Lips.
Let's get the obvious one out the way. Vaseline is good for using on chapped & sore lips. Apply a layer and allow your lips to soak it up.

Nose.
You're probably thinking 'I can use this on my nose, tell me how' Vaseline is perfect for your nose when you have a cold. Ever end up with a krusty and sore nose because you blow it so much? Apply this to the outside of your nose every time you blow your nose & say goodbye to a sore nose.

Feet.
I learnt this one from Allthatglitters21 on YouTube and it's so good I just have to spread the word. Wearing new shoes or have some that rub you to the point of blisters? Then apply a generous amount to the areas that tend to blister and you should be set for the night. Pop it in to your bag to re-apply during the day or night.

Eyebrows.
Ran out of eyebrow gel? Then apply the smallest amount to your eyebrows and brush through it with a spoolie and you're good to go.

Lip Scrub.
Ever wanted to try a lip scrub but don't want to pay the prices. Well now you can with just a little bit of Vaseline. All you need to do is take a tiny amount of Vaseline on to two fingers and dip your fingers into some sugar and there you have it, Your very own lip scrub that didn't cost a thing. All that's left is to scrub your lips.

Job interview tips!

Hey

An amazing thing happened last week, I received a phone call telling me I had a job interview for Monday and while I've had a few interviews in my life it can still be a bit scary so if you've never had one I thought I would give you some tips to help you prepare.

1. First thing I always do is have a trial run to where my interview is taking place. That way you know what buses or trains if any you need to catch and you can see how long the journey will take, that way you don't have to be rushing about on the interview day.

2. Research. Have a read up on the company or school that is interviewing you. Having some knowledge about them will help should they ask you any questions regarding their company or school and impress them that you took the time to check it out.

3. Outfit. It's important to dress correctly, most interviews require you to dress smart/casual. For my interview I wore black trousers, a blouse and some flat black shoes. Keep it simple, don't go overboard and DO NOT WEAR JEANS!

4. Documents. When going to an interview it's always handy to bring certain documents with you just incase. When I went I brought along my CV, a CRB which is a police check, certificates I felt were important, references and my ID. You can also bring anything else you feel may be important.

5. Last but not least, practice having someone asking you some interview questions. You can try googling typical interview questions just so you can get an idea of what they may ask you. Practicing this will help you feel less nervous during the interview because you will be well prepared.

Just remember to breathe and relax and you will all do fine. I hope this has been of some help and if you have an interview coming up then I wish you good luck! If you have any questions then feel free to leave them below or you can find other ways to contact me in the section above.

Unlucky 13 - James Patterson Review

Unlucky 13
Published: 2014
Pages: 416

Description: San Francisco Detective Lindsay Boxer is loving her life as a new mother. With an attentive husband, a job she loves, plus best friends who can talk about anything from sex to murder, things couldn't be better.

Then the FBI sends Lindsay a photo of a killer from her past, and her happy world is shattered. The picture captures a beautiful woman at a stoplight. But all Lindsay sees is the psychopath behind those seductive eyes: Mackie Morales, the most deranged and dangerous mind the Women's Murder Club has ever encountered.

Review:
As soon as I saw this was out, I dropped everything and got myself a copy. It was so good I finished it within a day.

Three different things are happening in tho book. One people are being murder after eating at a fast food restaurant another is Mackie Morales is back and wants revenge and last but not least Yuki is being held hostage on a cruise.

The murders was a good one, a whole new way to kill people, but i felt it was never really explained why they went around killing people nor did they really confess to the murders which is odd.

With Mackie being back and set on killing the WMC I did think there would be some sort of show down with Boxer or for it to be harder to track her down. Without saying too much the ending for it was crap and was hoping for more.

I feel Yuki always has crappy luck now that she has been kidnapped on a cruise and while that part was exciting it's never really explained why the cruise was hijacked.

Above all there was a lot of un answered questions and the endings are totally disappointing and have no closure on the stories.

Rating: 4/5
Recommend: Yes, even though it had good stories you will be left disappointed

The Cradle Will Fall - Mary Higgins Clark Review

The Cradle Will Fall
Published: 2003
Pages: 314

Description: When a minor road accident lands county prosecutor Katie DeMaio in hospital, she is forced to stay in overnight. Looking out of the hospital window in her half-conscious state, she thinks she glimpses a man loading a woman's body into the boot of a car. Or is it just a pill-induced nightmare? At work the next day, Katie begins investigating a suicide that looks more like murder. Initial evidence points elsewhere, but medical examiner Richard Carroll spots a trail leading to Dr Edgar Highley. He begins to suspect that the famous doctors pioneering work 'curing' infertile women might in fact violate every principle of modern medicine. But before he can tell Katie his fears, he learns she has already left the office for an appointment for routine surgery - in Dr Highley's operating room......

Review:
Storyline: It was an interesting concept not one I've read before, I like me a good murder story even though it leaves me with heart palpitations and find myself getting sweaty but you just can't help but continue reading, dying to know what happens so your heart can go back to normal.

Characters: The characters were well thought out. I liked Katie and would love to see her have her own series as I would be interested to see if her love interest in the book works out.

Ending: I was a bit surprised that it was only twenty chapters, it didn't feel like Mary would be able to wrap it up and she did, but I felt it was rushed. It was a good ending.

Rating: 3/5
Recommend?: Yes plus all her other books.
