Product Review: Dove Lip Balm

Hey

I recently went out and brought the Dove lip balm from my local superdrugs as I was suffering from extremely dry and chapped lips and the current Carmex lip balm I was using wasn't working so I wanted to try something different which is how I ended up with the Dove Lip Balm.

Dove caring lip balm - £3.00

I'm quite a big fan of Doves products and normally have no problems with them. I'm currently using the Dove Deep Conditioner which works like a charm.

Unforunatley I appear to be allergic to something that's in this lip balm as yesterday my lips decided to swell up to a lot bigger than what they normally are and as I haven't been using any other products on my lips I can only put it down to this lip balm which is a shame as it as really creamy formula that does make your lips feel smoother.

But mine will be now going in the bin as I can no longer use this product. I think from now on I will do test patch on my skin before using this item to ensure my lips don't swell up again lol. Although I was allergic to it that's not Doves fault and shouldn't take away that it is a good product aslong as you are not allergic.

Would I recommend:? Yes. Just do a test patch 48 hours prior to using it just to make sure you are not allergic like I was.

Till next time

Make Up For Beginners #3

Hey,

Just like food, make up products also expire after a certain amount of time. Being a beginner it's always a good idea to know when it's time to throw out those products that you have had for a while, as after all you wouldn't eat out of date food.

By not throwing out old make up, your allowing bacteria to grow and fester on your face which no one wants.

Let's find out when it's time to throw those products out along with some tips :)

Foundation - Lasts up to 6-12 months
If you're one of those people that stock up on your favorite foundation when it's on sale or just want a back up incase something happens to the one you're using. You may be interested to know that unopened foundation can last for a couple of years. But if it's something you use everyday or occasionally then it can last up to 6-12 months.

Tip: Make sure you are not storing your foundation in a hot place or in moist rooms like a bathroom as bacteria can start to grow and ruin your foundation.

Tip: To tell if your foundation has gone bad is if it has a bad smell that it didn't have before.

Tip: Using a foundation that has gone bad could lead to breakouts, so make sure you keep an eye out for any dodgy smells.

Mascara - Lasts up to 3-4 months.
Mascara's are probably the quickest product to go off as every time you take the wand out of the bottle and putting it back in you're allowing air to get inside,  which in turn is causing bacteria to grow.

Tip: You can tell when a mascara has gone off when it becomes clumpy and has a smell to it.

Tip: When your mascara has gone off is wash the wands and reuse them for your eyebrows or spraying it with hairspray & taming those pesky fly away hairs on your head.

Face Powder - Lasts up to 12-18 months.
Powder such as blush can last a long time. Just be sure to use clean brushes to ensure your powder lasts as long as possible.

Eyeliner/eye pencil - Lasts up to 18-24 months.
Another product that lasts a good amount of time before you need to throw it out.

Tip: If you are using a pencil make sure to sharpen it regularly to advoid bacteria growing.

Tip: if you are using a gel eyeliner (which are the ones in the little pots) make sure you are cleaning your brush on a regularly basis as your eyes are sensitive and the less bacteria you put near them the better.

Tip: When a gel eyeliner has gone bad, it will be clumpy and have that dried out look to it.

Lipstick/Lipgloss - Lasts up to 12-18 months.
There's no water in lipsticks & lip glosses so they last for a long time.

Tip: To tell if your lipsticks have gone bad they won't apply easily.

Tip: to tell if your lipgloss has gone bad it will come out goopy.

I hope this has been of some help to you

Octobers Glossy Box

Hey friend

Time for another Glossy box and upon looking into the box, it looks like a good month. Shall we have a closer look?

This months box is called Dark Romance. My box also came with the Glossy magazine.

Monu - Illuminating Primer
I've been having problems with getting my foundation to apply right, so I'm interested in trying this out. The primer is paraben free & has been formulated with light reflective mica particles and can be used either alone, under make-up or as a tinted moisturiser for a flawless, illuminating finish. My size sample is 20ml  which is pretty decent.
Full Size: £24.95 for 50ml
Shop: www.monushop.co.uk

Broadway Nails - imPRESS press-on manicure
I'm not really a big fan of wearing false nails as I can't seem to get on with them, but I do wear one as an accent nail. These are press on nails with no glue involved. Handy if you're in a rush. This is a full sample.
Full Size: £7.99
Shop: www.boots.com

MeMeMe Cherubs Blush - Cheek & Lip Tint
I've always been curious about lip tints so I'm excited to get this in my box. Claims to be long-lasting and multi-functional. This is a pretty decent sample at 6m. You won't need to use much so it will last for quite a while.
Full Size: £5.50 for 12ml
Shop: mememecosmetics.co.uk

Katy Perry - Killer Queen Fragrance
I'm a big fan of Katy Perry so I'm over the moon to receive a sample in my box. I've given it a sniff and to me it smells really nice. This fragrance is described as a charmingly playful yet lethally gorgeous floriental fragrance.
Full Size: £29.50 for 50ml
Shop: boots, superdrug, the perfume shop and the fragrance shop.

Premae - Multi-Vit Smoothie Serum
Seems like an interesting product. Premae is the worlds first allergen-free brand..the formula helps to soothe redness and hydrate the skin. Ideal for combination skin. I don't have combination skin but I will give this a whizz anyway. My size sample is 20ml which again is a decent size.
Full Size: £22.50 for 50ml
Shop: www.premaeskincare.com/shop

That completes this months glossy box, did you get any thing different to me? If so let me know in the comments as I'm interested to see what you got. If you wanna join glossy box then you can do so by clicking here :)

Till next time

Make-Up for beginners #2

Hey friend

When it comes to applying your make-up and getting it to apply and sit right can be a bit tricky, but it all comes down to washing your face properly. Here are 6 easy steps to washing your face.

Wash your face with warm water and a mild cleanser, make sure to really massage your cleanser into your skin. Once done, pat your face dry with a clean towel

Tip: Always pat your face dry never rub it.

Tip: Change your pillowcase weekly and use a fresh towel daily to avoid contaminating your face which could lead to breakouts.

Apply a toner and wait for it to dry. Toner is useful for those with extremely oily skin.

Tip: Hair products with oil and silicone in then will clog your pores if they get on your skin. If you was your face in the shower try to do it after you wash your hair.

Apply any medication, such as acne and spot treatment and allow to dry.

Apply eye cream or serum and let dry. You can skip this step if you don't have or use eye cream.

Apply moisturisers. Drying out your skin will actually cause it to produce more oils, allow this to sink into your skin before moving onto the next step.

Tip: Adding moisturisers last locks in active ingredients & helps products to be more effective in repairing your skin.

Apply make-up primer or you can use moisturisers to act as your primer. Now continue on with your make-up routine.

I hope you found these tips useful and help your make-up to set properly and last all day :)
