Unlucky 13 - James Patterson Review

Unlucky 13
Published: 2014
Pages: 416

Description: San Francisco Detective Lindsay Boxer is loving her life as a new mother. With an attentive husband, a job she loves, plus best friends who can talk about anything from sex to murder, things couldn't be better.

Then the FBI sends Lindsay a photo of a killer from her past, and her happy world is shattered. The picture captures a beautiful woman at a stoplight. But all Lindsay sees is the psychopath behind those seductive eyes: Mackie Morales, the most deranged and dangerous mind the Women's Murder Club has ever encountered.

Review:
As soon as I saw this was out, I dropped everything and got myself a copy. It was so good I finished it within a day.

Three different things are happening in tho book. One people are being murder after eating at a fast food restaurant another is Mackie Morales is back and wants revenge and last but not least Yuki is being held hostage on a cruise.

The murders was a good one, a whole new way to kill people, but i felt it was never really explained why they went around killing people nor did they really confess to the murders which is odd.

With Mackie being back and set on killing the WMC I did think there would be some sort of show down with Boxer or for it to be harder to track her down. Without saying too much the ending for it was crap and was hoping for more.

I feel Yuki always has crappy luck now that she has been kidnapped on a cruise and while that part was exciting it's never really explained why the cruise was hijacked.

Above all there was a lot of un answered questions and the endings are totally disappointing and have no closure on the stories.

Rating: 4/5
Recommend: Yes, even though it had good stories you will be left disappointed

The Cradle Will Fall - Mary Higgins Clark Review

The Cradle Will Fall
Published: 2003
Pages: 314

Description: When a minor road accident lands county prosecutor Katie DeMaio in hospital, she is forced to stay in overnight. Looking out of the hospital window in her half-conscious state, she thinks she glimpses a man loading a woman's body into the boot of a car. Or is it just a pill-induced nightmare? At work the next day, Katie begins investigating a suicide that looks more like murder. Initial evidence points elsewhere, but medical examiner Richard Carroll spots a trail leading to Dr Edgar Highley. He begins to suspect that the famous doctors pioneering work 'curing' infertile women might in fact violate every principle of modern medicine. But before he can tell Katie his fears, he learns she has already left the office for an appointment for routine surgery - in Dr Highley's operating room......

Review:
Storyline: It was an interesting concept not one I've read before, I like me a good murder story even though it leaves me with heart palpitations and find myself getting sweaty but you just can't help but continue reading, dying to know what happens so your heart can go back to normal.

Characters: The characters were well thought out. I liked Katie and would love to see her have her own series as I would be interested to see if her love interest in the book works out.

Ending: I was a bit surprised that it was only twenty chapters, it didn't feel like Mary would be able to wrap it up and she did, but I felt it was rushed. It was a good ending.

Rating: 3/5
Recommend?: Yes plus all her other books.

Review: George Ultra Sheer Foundation

Hey

Not all that long ago I did a review on the George Foundation Mousse and I wanted to give the George from Asda Range another chance and here are the results.

I so wanted this foundation to be better than the mousse one but while it's all the things you want from a foundation, good coverage, no smell and goes on smoothly BUT the colouring just isn't right. I picked mine up in the lightest shade available which is 'Porcelain' but it's still so Orange which is SO annoying because I think the range would be perfect if everything wasn't so orange!

According to the bottle which is pretty fancy, the bottle itself isn't plastic it feels like glass and it is frosted which gives it a nice look. The foundation says it is 'light perfecting & moisturising' 'contains vitamins and suitable for all skin types'

I got mine online with my weekly food shopping but I'm fairly sure it is available in most of their shops. It cost £5.00 for 30ml which is pretty good if it works for your skin tone. The pump itself is a pain because a lot comes out from just the lightest touch so do be careful if you only want a little amount at a time.

This Child Of Mine - Sinéad Moriarty

This Child Of Mine
Published: 2013
Pages: 416

Description: Sophie is a happy 18-year-old living in London with Anna, her Irish mother. Anna has devoted her life to Sophie. It may be just the two of them but Anna has more than enough love to give. Sophie has everything she could ever need.

Laura is a not-so-happy artist. She too has a daughter, Mandy. but Laura is haunted by the loss of her first child, Jody. Happy-go-lucky as she is, Mandy lives in Jody's shadow and wonders why her mother can never let go.

Both mothers carry secrets and cannot forget the day their paths crossed. But a chance discovery is about to bring everything into the open and mothers and daughters, love and lies, past and future, with spectacularly collide.

Review:
Storyline - I don't want to give to much away but the book is about 3 women Anna, Laura and Sophie and what makes them connected to one another. It's a very well written book that is a real page turner. It starts off with the events leading up to what makes them all connected, then it goes to present day and the story slowly unfolds. Three different characters tell this story.

Characters - I think the author did a brilliant job with the characters, they were well developed so you could understand and feel the emotions they were feelings and decisions they made.

Ending - I loved seeing the story unfolding. It was a fitting ending for them all. I can see myself reading more books by thus author.

Rating: 5/5
Recommend?: For my first read by this author I would recommend as I really enjoyed it.

Orange Is The New Black - Piper Kerman Review

Orange Is The New Black
Published: 2010
Pages: 298

Description:
With a career, a boyfriend, and a loving family, Piper Kerman barely resembles the reckless young woman who delivered a suitcase of drug money ten years before. But that past has caught up with her. Convicted and sentenced to fifteen months at the infamous federal correctional facility in Danbury, Connecticut. Kerman's story offers a rare look into the lives of women in prison - why it is we lock so many away and what happens to them when they're there.

Review:
I had heard about the TV show of the same name but had no idea it was based on a true book, it was only when Ingrid aka missglamorazzi mentioned the book in one of her videos that I realised it was from a book. I decided to grab myself a copy and give it a chance.

I always thought all the American prisons were terrible, where you would get beaten up or shived which you probably do, so I was surprised to see that Danbury wasn't like that. It's a shame that she did commit a crime and she did eventually do her time, but the book is an eye opener and has made sure I never commit a crime. I think she coped bloody well, by finding something to focus on wether it be reading, writing letters or having a job. I can't imagine being locked up with a load of girls doing the same thing every day. You could see that it was hard for her but was lucky enough not to lose her marbles.

You wouldn't think it but she made some really good friends in there that she eventually came to se as family. Each inmate she was in contact with all brought something different to her life. All their personalities came across in the book. The inmates did look out for one another.

It's a brilliant read, and is a real eye opener to what goes on in federal prison, not a place I would ever want to have to go. A real page turner & worth the read, if only to scare you in to never committing a crime.

Rating?: 5/5
Recommend?: Yes.

Review: Avon's Clearskin Pore Penetrating Black Mineral Mask

Hey

I did an Avon Haul a while back and one of the products I brought was a clay face mask and I have tried and tested it and am ready to give you my review.

I've heard a great deal about clay face mask and how good they are to use and I wanted to see for myself and I picked up the Clearskin Pore Penetrating Black Mineral Mask from Avon. According to the packaging the product contains an oil-absorbing blend of mineral clays that attracts and effectively removes pore-clogging oils. It also contains Salicylic Acid.

I aim to use this mask twice a week which doesn't happen often because I'm lazy but when I do my face does feel less clogged and is ideal to use when you are having a breakout.

Most people apply the mask all over their face but personally I just apply it to certain places, mainly my nose where my pores are visible, my chin where I tend to break out most and my cheeks. The part I like most it is, as it drys it clings to your pores so you can see where they are and you know the mask is going to pull them out. I have also noticed how smooth and soft my skin feels after using this mask.

Because it is clay the mask is black in colour and once it has dried and ready to be removed it turns a light grey colour. Just a warning this product will stain any cloth you use. Me not knowing that, decided to use a white flannel......yeah it's no longer white..whoops! So now I just a wet cotton pad to remove it as it's less harsh on the skin and means I can throw it away. There is a noticeable smell to it so beware of that when buying it because it's not the nicest of smells.

If you are interested in this product you can pick one up HERE. You get 75ml for £5.00
