Rivers of London - Ben Aaronovitch Review

Hey

Here is another book review.

Rivers Of London (Peter Grant #1)
Published: 2011

Description: Probationary Constanle Peter Grant dreams of being a detective in London's Metropolitan Police. Too bad his superior plans to assign him to the Case Progression Unit, where the biggest threat he'll face is a paper cut. But Peter's prospects change in the aftermath of a puzzling murder, when he gains exclusive information from an eyewitness who happens to be a ghost. Peter's ability to speak with the lingering dead brings him to the attention of Detective Chief Inspector Thomad Nightingale, who investigates crimes involving magic and other manifestations of the uncanny. Now, as a wave of brutal and bizarre murders engulfs the city, Peter is plunged into a world where gods and goddesses mingle with mortals and long-dead evil is making a comeback on a rising ride of magic.

Review: I saw Tanya Burr (YouTube) was reading this and she said it was really good, and being a fan of hers I decided I would give it a go and I'm sad to say that I didn't like this book whatsoever. I think the storyline would have been a good one but was unfortunatley filled with unnecessary crap and was highly dragged out. There was a ton of information that was so darn confusing (mother & father Thames) that I literally can remember nothing about it.

The concept of the book was good but would have been better if it had been written by a different author.

I liked the fact that it was set in London which is where I live so it was nice to be able to recognise the places they were traveling too.

The ending was beyond crap. The author could have found a better way to end it even though he ended it like he did so we would all want to read the next one.

On a whole I'm disappointed with this book.

My Rating: 2/5
Would I recommend?: No, I think there are better books out there.
