They soon realise the cottage makeover is a far bigger project than they'd anticipated.

Black Chalk
By Christopher J. Yates
September 19th 2013
352 Pages

Description:
One game. Six students. Five survivors.

It was only ever meant to be a game.

A game of consequences, of silly forfeits, childish dares. A game to be played by six best friends in their first year at Oxford University. But then the game changed; the stakes grew higher and the dares more personal, more humiliating, finally envolving into a vicious struggle with unpredictable and tragic results.

Now, fourteen years later, the remaining player must meet again for the final round.

You can buy yourself a copy here :)

That's it for this week. Let me know if you decide to read any of these and what you thought of them :)

Grand Theft Auto V Review

Hey guys

Recently I went out and brought the new Grand Theft Auto V for the playstation 3 and i was super excited for this to be released and Rockstar have really out done themselves with this one.

The graphics are amazing and a lot of things look real such as the waves in the water or blood when you kill someone. I play with an HD cable so I'm not sure how it looks in normal but I'm guessing it still looks decent.

You get to play as three different characters Franklin, Michael and Trevor that I haven't unlocked yet and even as a dog called Chops which is pretty cool. Each character has their own storyline, but they do cross over into one another.

I'm not that far into the story as I'm not one that can sit for hours and play on the PS3 for hours but from what I've played it's seriously a great game until I get stuck then I will probably hate it lol.

But the mission I've done so far have been good especially getting to play as the dog, you get to fight aliens, save a boat and many more. I'm not going to spoil it for those of you that have yet to go and get a copy but what I can say is that it's well worth the money.

There's many different things you can do should you want a rest from missions, you have the shooting range, tennis courts, get some sun out at sea, parachute over the mountains or take a ride in the hills.

I've been a big fan of all the GTA games ever since I was younger and they never fail to disappoint. The one thing that I do like about the game is the new radio songs they have actually added proper real songs from the likes of Britney Spears, Fergie and Wham, with many more.

I look forward to continuing with these missions and you can tell so much time and effort has gone into making this one of the best games of 2013 and if you've played all the previous GTA's then you will notice all the new features and how different and ultimately better. If you're in the market for a new game then I highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed. Below are some pictures of the gameplay that I took. I hope you enjoy them :)

Michaels house

Franklins house

Doing a mission

Couple of cars I've come across while driving around.

If you want a more in depth review of the game then you can click here. But you will need to be 18+ to view it.

Till next time guys

Lesley Pearse - 3 Book Review

Hey guys

Today I bring you 3 book reviews two of which was on my Summer Reading List and the other one featured in my July Favourites. As they were all by the same author I figured I could just combine them all into one post. Clever right? Let's get started :)

Belle
By Lesley Pearse
2011
624 Pages

Description: Fifteen year-old Belle has lived in Seven Dials all her life. But her innocence is shattered when she witnesses a murder and subsequently snatched by the killer & she is sold into prostitution. Can she make it back to her family and find her chance at happiness?

Review
Storyline: I liked the story, it was sad that Belle witnesses a murder and has her childhood cruelly snatched away from her, and to make matters worse she gets sold into prostitution. But Belle makes the best out of a bad situation & and does all she can to survive and find her way home. There is a lot of detail of prostitution and sex so if you don't like those types of book then skip ahead to the next review :)

Characters: Most of the people that know Belle (friends & family) do all they can to find her and bring her back home. Everyone is full of love for Belle which is sweet and caring. The story jumps back between Belle and her family and how they are coping without Belle. Unique friendships are created and many relationships are lost.

Overall: One of my favourite books of 2013, I was not expecting to like it as much as I did, but I'm really glad I gave it a go.

My Rating: 10/10
Would I recommend?: Without a shadow of a doubt yes.

Father Unknown
Lesley Pearse
2002
409 Pages

Description: When her adoptive mother dies and leaves her daughter a scrapbook of memories, Daisy finally discovers who she is and where she came from. Will she be able to deal with the truth about her real parents and the real Daisy?

Review
Storyline: This book is also set in the olden days like Belle. It did leave me some what confused in the beginning as after a few chapters it jumps back to when Daisy's birth mother was a young child and how she came to be pregnant and why she had to give Daisy up for adoption. But it's not made clear that its jumping back. It's a really good and engaging story with a shocking twist that I honestly did not see coming...Mind Blown!

Characters: A great mix of characters and personalities. They are all unique in different ways. A good look into the time when being pregnant out of wedlock and at a young age was frowned upon and a big no no.

Overall: Another great story by Lesley Pearse. The story had me hooked & when the twist happened I was hooked even more. Well worth the read.

My Rating: 8/10 just because it was confusing at the beginning.
Would I recommend?: Totally

The Promise
Lesley Pearse
2012
503 Pages

Description: Belle's life is about to change in ways she never imagined possible - when Jimmy enlists in the army her world is shattered and realises she must volunteer to help the wounded. But the past returns to haunt her present in other more unpleasant ways. Can she survive the war with her spirit intact? Will destiny finally lead her to lasting happiness even while war rages on around. This is the follow on book from Belle.

Review
Storyline: Be sure to have tissues on hand because this book will literally have you crying like a baby. The story is extremely well written. The book follows on from Belle and tells the story of what Belle's life became after she got back from Paris. The book has you feeling all sorts of different emotions. It also gives you a inside look at how the soldiers felt and what conditions they were having to fight in.

Characters: Most of the characters from Belle are also in this book along with some new ones. As the book goes along you end up feeling a lot of empathy for some of the characters and at points you're left wishing you could know them and that they existed. Lesley knows how to create the greatest characters.

Overall: A great read. This book left me smiling and in tears. Lesley Pearse can not write a bad story. I enjoyed every page of this book even the sad parts.

My Rating: 10/10
Would I Recommend?: Yes. At this point I recommend them all even though I haven't read them all. But if you loved Belle then you will love this one.

After 6 weeks I have finally finished my Summer Reading List. Phew. I hope you enjoyed these reviews. I shall be posting my Autumn reading list which I can not wait to get stuck into. I will indeed post reviews as I read them. You can find all the ways to contact me in the contact section above :)

September's Glossy Box!

Hey guys

We are half way through September, which means its a new glossy box. Yay!! I'm really into beauty boxes at the moment and glad this one has turned up. So without further a do. Lets see what I got :)

I am in love with this boxes design, having the Union Jack on the box makes it really cute as this glossy box is the London edition, and it would be nice to have out on show. As you may be able to tell from the pictures I got some really cool stuff :)

Elizabeth Arden - Untold
My first item I pick up is this perfume sample. I love trying new scents so I'm happy to get a sample. I gave it a sniff and seriously, it smells devine. The card describes the scent as a modern floral fragrance. It's a really decent size sample.
Full size: £48 for 50ml & £69 for 100ml
Shop: Debenhams

Be A Bombshell Cosmetics - Onyx Eye Liner
The next sample my eyeballs spot is this eyeliner. I've been wanting to try a felt tip liquid liner for awhile so I'm excited to try this out. This eyeliner came in the colour Onyx. I've never heard of this brand but according to the card it's their best selling eyeliner and is suppose to last throughout the entire day. But I will let you know on that. This is a full sample.
Full size: $14 for 3g
Shop: www.beabombshell.com

HD Brows Blusher - Blusher 2
Next I pick up the HD Brows Blusher. I've actually heard if this brand but didn't know they did anything other than brows, the shade I got was in Blusher 2 and is described as a soft burnt rose powder. When I open the compact I found the powder to be broken :( but its still useable. When I was doing the swatch it's not really noticeable so if you do want it to show up on your cheeks you will have to build it up. This is also in full size.
Full size: £17.95
Shop: www.hdbrows.com

Eylure Pre-glued Lashes
Next I spy these false eyelashes. I've always wanted to try false eyelashes but having to use glue freaks me out so I'm stoked to get these ones. These are Pre-glued so all you do is remove the lashes from the tray and apply then you are ready to PARTY!!! These are also a full size. Happy days :)
One Set: £5.06
Shop: www.eylure.com

TONI & GUY Hairmeetwardrobe - Classic Shine & Gloss Serum
My last sample is the shine & gloss serum and is suppose to control frizz. I have frizzy hair so I'm looking forward to using this sample and getting rid of my frizz :) this is a pretty decent sample.
Full Size: £7.19 for 30ml
Shops: www.boots.com

And that completes this months glossy box. It was a pretty good box I'm looking forward to next months. I hope you enjoyed seeing what I got. Let me know in the comments if you got this glossy box and if you got anything different to me :)

Till next time

The Covenant Of Genesis Book Review

Hey guys

Here is another book review that features on my Summer Reading List.

The Covenant Of Genesis (Nina Wilde & Eddie Chase #4)
By Andy McDermott
2009
535 Pages

Description: An incredible discovery. Archaeologist Nina Wilde has unearthed an amazing find: a dive site containing evidence of a settlement that existed over a hundred thousand years before any previously known culture. Could  completely undiscovered Civilisation have once ruled the earth.

A merciless fire
Before Nina can consider the evidence further, her research boat is attached and her proof stolen.

A shocking revelation
The covenant, representation from three of the worlds most powerful religions, will stop at nothing to keep Nina's discovery secret.

Review: This is the Fourth book in the series with a lot of pages to read.

Another great read, I'm such a big fan of this series. It's an easy read, great writing. I love the cheesy jokes that Eddie makes, it normally leaves me laughing. Each book tends to refer back to the previous books.

The relationship between Eddie & Nina is sweet, they always seem to cause so much trouble where ever they go, a lot of the baddies tend to end up dead. The series is worth reading as I've never been disappointed I'm glad there's so many books in the series and I can't wait to read the others.

My Rating: 10/10
Would I Recommend?: Yes, one of my favourite series.

There's three more reviews to come two from my Summer Reading List and 1 from my July Favourites and as they are by the same author I figured I would combined then into one post, then I can post my Autumn reading list :D which I'm really excited to get stuck into. Be sure to keep an eye out for those. :)

Till next time

Current TV Shows #3

Hey guys

Time for the last post on the TV shows I am currently watching.

#1. Nikita - Three Seasons.
Nikita is a trained assassin gone rogue trying to stop a secret U.S. agency known only as Division from recruiting deeply troubled teenagers and training them to be assassins.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this show when I first started watching this. But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I like the idea of assassins being kept hidden underground. While Nikita does all she can to ruin Divisions missions and save the people that they are trying to kill. All characters are played and work together well. There is a lot of back stories to be told and a lot of space for the characters to develop.

For more information on the show then just click here & here

#2. Hawaii Five -O - Three Seasons.
Steve McGarret returns home to Oahu, in order to find his fathers killer. The governor offers him the chance to run his own task force.

I'd never seen the original series so I put off giving the remake a go. But eventually decided to watch the first episode and the rest as they say was history. It's a funny & well written show, the banter between Steve and Danno is hilarious and makes the show realistic. All characters have different back stories which all come to light during the episodes. It's a great show and is well worth watching.

#3. Hart Of Dixie - Two Seasons.
New Yorker and new doctor Zoe Hart accepts an offer from a stranger, Dr Harley Wilkes, to work in his medical practice in Bluebell, Alabama. She arrives to find he has died and left half the practice to her in his will.

I only really watched this show because of Rachel Bilson. It's nothing like your typical doctor drama show. Zoe is treated as an outsider as she is from New York so she has to work hard to prove herself. She gets picked on a lot by Lemon a Southern Belle. It's a little unrealistic at times and Zoe as a doctor is not believe able but if you want a light hearted show that doesn't take it's self to seriously then give it a go.

For more information on the show then just click here & here

#4. White Collar - Four Seasons.
A white collar criminal agrees to help the FBI catch other White collar criminals using his expertise as an art and securities thief, counterfeiter and racketeer.

It's a well written show. The first episode is humorous & interesting and only gets better. A fast paced show but not impossible to follow. They have wacky crimes to solve all seemingly impossible until Neil gets his hands on them. If you're looking for a smart & funny but light show then this is for you.

For more information on the show then just click here & here

#5. Covert Affairs - Four Seasons.
A young CIA operative/trainee, Annie Walker, is sent into the field to work for the DPD (Domestic Protection Division).

Another great show. I've watched this show from the very beginning. The relationship between Annie & Auggie is sweet and believable. Some episodes leave you thinking "that was a bit over the top" you're occasionally left on the edge of your seat while you wait to find out if Annie completes her mission and gets out alive. Total heart pumping show.

For more information on the show then just click here & here

#6. Perception - Two Seasons.
Dr. Daniel pierce is an eccentric neuroscientist who uses his unique outlook to help the federal government solve complex criminal cases.

There is something about these kind of shows that has me totally hooked, its the same as Elementary. I love how both the main characters minds work when it comes to solving murders. Eric plays his character really well that its believable & all episodes are interesting. If you like elementary then you will probably like this show.

For more information on the show then just click here & here

#7. Mistresses - One Season.
Four Friends. Four hearts. 13 weeks of seduction.

I only started watching this show because of Alyssa and I was surprised at how good it is and it's only in its first season. Some of the story lines are a bit silly but still leaves you hooked. I don't want to spoil anything by revealing to much, but I will say just because the show is called Mistresses don't think it's just about four women sleeping around because its not. Just give it a go and see what you think.

For more information on the show then just click here & here.

#8. The Client List - Two Seasons.
Riley is a single mother living in a small Texas town and leading a shocking double life.

Based on the movie of the same name only the show is a hell of a lot better. It's an easy to watch show. The acting is questionable at times. Riley's husband disappears & she must now get a job to provide for her children. She gets a job giving massages but doesn't realise "extras" are given. Every week you're left wondering if they will get busted & the forbidden love going on with her brother in law. It's entertaining and worth giving it a chance.

For more information on the show then just click here & here.

#9. Anger Management - Two Seasons.
A guy is sentenced to anger management counselling with an aggressive instructor.

It's not a masterpiece of a show and its watchable, other than Charlie the rest of the acting is questionable and makes you cringe, but some of the jokes are funny and does make you laugh. If you're looking for something to fill the void of Two and Half Men the give the show a watch.

For more information on the show then just click here & here

#10. Tia And Tamera - Three Seasons.
The series goes inside the lives of celebrity identical twins Tia and Tamera Mowry as they balance their acting careers with major life transformation of marriage and motherhood.

I've liked the sisters ever since Sister Sister. It's nice to see they have grown up into beautiful women with adorable children. It's a nice peek into their everyday lives and how they deal with everyday problems.

For more information on the show then just click here & here

#11. The Fosters - One Season.
A multi-ethnic family mix if foster, adopted and biological kids are being raised by two moms.

My new favourite show. A unique and an extremely well written show with amazing acting by everyone. The show address all different issues such as being gay, being adopted and foster kids falling for other foster kids. The show makes you see that there's nothing wrong with being different and that having same sex parents are just as good at parenting as everyone else. It's only in its first season and I can't wait to see where this show goes. Do what ever you can to watch this show because you are truly missing out on something special.

For more information on the show then just click here & here.

And that completes this series. Phew I bet you were all thinking it was never going to end. I can't believe I watch so many great shows and I expect more will be added. I hope you enjoyed this mini series, be sure to check out my previous posts if you need to catch up :)

Till next time
